PURE Dog Listener Courses

Since the launch of PURE Dog Listeners we have had many enquiries and requests from people who wanted to know where they could learn the skills that we use to interact with their own and other dogs. Enquirers fell into two groups, those dog owners who just wanted to have a better relationship with and understanding of their best friends, those that did not have a PURE Dog Listener near their location to assist them with a consultation and those who wanted to go further. They might, as a pet owner want a much deeper insight into the psyche of canines in general and the domestic dog in particular; possibly moving into the field of Dog Listening. Many enquirers wanting to go further are people working with dogs in their day to day lives such as Service dog handlers (Police, Military etc), Vet Nurses, staff from animal welfare charities or organisations, kennel owners or staff, volunteers at rescue centres. Some of these want to go on to work as PURE Dog Listeners and conduct consultations to assist other dog owners.

The temptation, when we were first approached to start courses, was to dive in at once and perhaps not get it quite right. we weren’t prepared to do that. We were putting together a new organisation and we were determined it would be the best. We therefore took great care in the make up of all courses and seminars and have learned a lot in the process. We started out with an Initial Course, the point of entry for everyone followed by an Advanced Course for those who wanted to go further and who showed promise. With experience we have now evolved to offer a more flexible package at all levels. We have changed to a two day seminar as an introduction, with the opportunity to progress further for those willing and who show an aptitude for canine communication.

AN INTRODUCTION TO PURE DOG LISTENING
This is a two day seminar aimed at those wishing to ‘mend’ or achieve a better understanding of their own dogs. Perhaps with a view, to go further in the field of Pure Dog Listening. This is the point of entry for all levels of training.
The seminar will include an over view of wolf pack dynamics and how we incorporate this into our daily lives with their domestic cousins the dog. This incorporates the five elements of Pure Dog Listening concentrating on the all important areas of leadership: Feeding, walking, re-joining and affection, danger and leadership through play.
You will learn how we bring our pack together using these five elements in a non aggressive manner, using no gadgets but heaps of patience and commitment, to become that successful and trust worthy decision maker in all these areas, and so become a successful team/pack leader and be confident in showing you dog where he fits in and what is acceptable behaviour and what is not.
You will learn why you dog does what he does and what he is communicating to you, how to correct behaviours such as lead pulling, running off, jumping up, separation anxiety, all types of aggression etc.
The seminar is held at a superb venue in the village of Wherwell in Hampshire, a relaxing learning environment for all. Seminar Price: £360 (This includes 2 days of tutorials and discussions, tea, coffee and biscuits and a two course cooked lunch.) It does not include B&B or evening meals, which are available at the venue or nearby.
Non returnable deposit of £100 payable to secure you place and the remainder to be paid 2 weeks prior to the commencement of the course.

Your course tutors will be Robin Glover and Caroline Spencer Directors of Pure Dog Listeners Ltd, who between them have over 50yrs experience both with people and dogs. You will get to know them well throughout the two days. For those who feel that they have what it takes to go further you will be able to research the next step. If Robin and Caroline feel that you have that certain something then they will, if you so wish, invite you to progress which will include gaining experience and getting involved in a variety of canine situations and may involve shadowing experienced PURE Dog Listeners at consultations. You will then be eligible to attend:-

ADVANCED PURE DOG LISTENER COURSE

A 3 day in-depth course aimed at those wishing to teach Pure Dog Listening. This course is by invitation only for those who have completed the Introductory two day Seminar and show (in our opinion) an aptitude for teaching Pure Dog Listening and a commitment to our philosophy of kind, natural, gadget free canine communication. Great people skills are essential along with a special empathy for dogs. The cost of this course is £530 and will take place at the same venue and will include refreshments under the same conditions as the Seminar

On both the Seminar and Advanced Course you will find that the learning experience doesn’t end at at the end of formal lessons. Both Robin and Caroline will be available at mealtimes and in the bar in the evening and will be very happy to talk dog. This is a very valuable part of the course, knowledge is gained, friendships formed and of course fun is had.

For those who do go on to become PURE Dog Listeners (PDLs) there is a huge amount of back up available to get you established and comfortable in your new role. You will be able to shadow experienced PURE Dog Listeners at consultations. You will have access to a forum for support, advice and friendship. There are meetings at least twice a year during which we discuss anything and everything canine related. These meetings are greatly valued by our members and enjoyable. They tiring for us to arrange but well worth the effort. When you are ready to ‘go solo’ we will always be there to support you. If you need help setting up as self employed we can offer advice. We have a range of clothing bearing our trade marked logo that you can wear to show that you are part of a known and respected organisation

What is this all going to cost you once you’ve completed your training? Unlike some other organisations you cannot just buy yourself into a position in PURE Dog Listeners. You pay for your Seminar and Advanced Course and if you’re up to standard we will welcome you with open arms and assist your ongoing development. If you attend a meeting you will pay for food, drinks and snacks only. Your access to the forum and all advice and support received will cost you nothing. Will you be able to ask any question no matter how simple? Yes. Will you have to pay a licensing or franchise fee? No. Will you be charged for advice or assistance given? No. Will we make a profit out of you if you want to buy corporate clothing? No. You can buy any garment in any colour direct from the supplier. It will be embroidered not only with our logo but also your name, something that clients tell us adds a professional touch. You will only pay the suppliers price, we have an agreement with them that the minimum order is one garment, there is no mark-up creamed off the top by us.

We believe that everybody, even non dog owners would benefit from attending the seminar. Not everybody however, has the ability to pass that knowledge on to others. For that reason we will only offer places on the Advanced Courses to those that we are confident can carry the banner of PURE Dog Listeners. It would be wrong morally and unfair to dog, owners and students if we allowed someone unsuitable to attend a course just to take money from them. For that reason we will advertise Seminar dates but will only arrange Advanced Courses as and when they are required.
