Jumping up
Why does you dog Jump up at you or visitors or on a walk at people you meet?? Firstly it is not because it is pleased to see everyone..let alone strangers. If you or you children were to do this then you would not be very well accepted into society. So why do we let dogs get away with it? The common misconception is that your dog is so pleased to see people, well I’m sure not everyone is pleased when their best suit has to visit the dry cleaners and those poor people who are afraid of dogs, have to endure such physical contact with your four legged friend.
Basically it is a dog in a panic and /or a dog taking control of a situation, checking out the opposition entering your personal space and his. It has no self control and is just calling the shots. It is not always a dog toying for you attention, it is most often a dog having been put in a position of decision maker and trying to do just that, but it is out of its depth in our human world, a world it does not understand.
We need to tap in to its natural instincts and language, a body language to truly understand why the dog is doing this and therefore how to correct it, in a way it understands. Some dogs do respond to various human traditional training methods but plenty do not. The method of pure dog listening is a kind, no confrontational way to correct all undesirable behaviour with all personalities of dogs. I’ve tried the others and this one, if you are patient and committed, it works !
.
Who's in control when you meet / re-unite? The dog is if it asks for attention and gets it.
